celebrating Kansas voices in sedan ks : morgan's story
The meaning behind CVK is really wonderful. I love the idea that everyone has a story and it is important enough to be heard. This project allows this idea to come to fruition. I chose to tell the story of my friend Morgan. I chose her because her Kansas perspective is very different from my own. Her entire town has the same number of people as my high school did. If I didn't know Morgan, there is no way I would've experienced Sedan's Fourth of July celebration and experienced that sense of community. That community is unique to Sedan, and I am excited that this project gave me a chance to share one voice of this town with the world.
I used my iPad Pro to edit and make this video. I originally began using Clyp to record Morgan's interview, but I had trouble integrating it onto iMovie. I think that Clyp is a great way to share recorded podcasts, but it is not good for collecting audio to be used in videos or saved as an audio file on your device. Clyp can only be shared in links. Because of this, I used Voice Memo on my iPhone 5s and then saved the files directly to iCloud Drive and then uploaded them in iMovie on my iPad. I really liked this system, but it has some drawbacks. First of all, 'Voice Memo' is only found on iPhones, so the project couldn't be completed on my iPad alone. If I wanted to show someone else how to make a video with audio and they did not have access to an iPhone, I would feel a bit stuck. iMovie worked well. I find that it is very user friendly, and good quality video is available to people with little editing training.
