canva poster & review
I used the free Canva App on an iPad Air 2 to make my first project (the tree poster to the left<<) and I was very impressed by it! For a free app, it had thousands of designs and images available. I found the app very user friendly, and I would recommend this app for use with 4th grade and up. Schools could use it as an option for creative projects in many different subject areas. For example, the "poster" options would be great for creating propaganda posters from WWI or WWII in a history lesson. Many of the other layouts could be used as a book-report design that would easily feature images, videos, and other colorful graphics that engage the students more than an average report written on a word processor would.
One of the pros of using this app in the classroom is that it gives the students a lot of freedom to choose what they would like to make. With all the color, image, shapes, and layout options, the kids can personalize whatever project they are assigned.
Using this app on the iPad had a few difficulties. The background picture or the text boxes would move around when I touched the screen with intentions of editing the text. Other than that, I found it very easy to edit my poster.
Overall, I would recommend this app to educators, students, and anyone else that needs to communicate with images and words.
The app is downloadable for iPad and Canva is also available for use on the internet.
